History
|
| James Musselwhite
& Assoc. has been servicing pipe organs across Canada since 1978,
but the history
of the company extends a great deal farther back in time. |
|
|
|
| James Musselwhite's Grandfather, Frederick William
Musselwhite apprenticed with the venerable Organ Builder Willis and
Sons of London England in the 1890's. F.W. Studied Music and was an
Organist at All Saints, Margaret Street in London. |

When F.W. Musselwhite arrived in Saskatchewan in the
early
1900's,
he was the only trained Organ Technician for a thousand miles in any
direction. Within two decades, over one hundred pipe organs would be
installed by various companies. From Prince Albert SK, to Winnipeg MB.,
Mr. Musselwhite's services were in great demand.

|
|
| F.W. Musselwhite's oldest son, C.H. Musselwhite spent many
years working alongside his father, learning the trade and continuing
the family tradition long after F.W.'s death. |

James Musselwhite is Caleb Henry's youngest son. Some of
James'
earliest memories are those of working alongside his father, either in
his
small shop, or on the road diligently plying his trade.
Jamie received further training working alongside such well known and
respected
craftsman as Fred Barr, Stewart Kennedy, Hugo Spilker, and Grant
Smalley.

| James has tuned, repaired, and built organs from Victoria
B.C., to
Toronto Ontario. Many of these instruments have been very large, and
very
grand and imposing, but his favorite will always been the very first
organ
he ever made, a thirteen note portatif. This little instrument he made
for
his father, so that even when he was ailing, he could still have a pipe
organ
nearby. |

|
| For almost a quarter of a
century, James Musselwhite has tried to keep the family tradition
alive, and honor the
memory of his father and grandfather. "Three Generations of Experience"
is
not only the company's motto, it is it's pledge: To preserve the
instruments
that three generations of Musselwhites have experienced. |
